The Puma is an Italian family of light wheeled armoured fighting vehicles, comprising the six-wheeled Puma 6x6 and four-wheeled Puma 4x4, developed and produced by the Consorzio Iveco Fiat-Oto Melara for the Italian Army. Initial prototypes were completed in 1988 and five testbed vehicles were finished by 1990, with the Italian Army placing an order at the end of 1999 for 610 total vehicles, 360 in the 6x6 configuration and 250 in the 4x4 variant. Production ran from 2001 to 2004, with first deliveries arriving in mid-2003.
