The Daimler armoured car is a British armored fighting vehicle built by the Daimler Company for armed reconnaissance and liaison duties, entering service in mid-1941 after transmission problems delayed prototypes first built in 1939. Armed with an Ordnance QF 2-pounder gun and coaxial 7.92mm Besa and .303 Bren machine guns, and protected by 7 to 16mm of armor on a 7.85 tonne hull with a three man crew, 2,694 were built. It fought across North Africa, Europe and South-East Asia during the Second World War, was exported to Commonwealth nations afterward, and saw further use in Korea, Vietnam and Sri Lanka's civil war, with some still operational with Qatar's army as late as 2012.
