The Type 08 is a family of eight-wheeled amphibious armored fighting vehicles developed by the People's Republic of China in the early 2000s and placed in service in 2008. Its modular design allows many variants built on a common chassis, powered by a Deutz diesel engine producing 330 kilowatts, about 440 horsepower, and it is fully amphibious using hydraulically controlled water jets. More than 6,150 vehicles have been produced since 2006 for the People's Liberation Army Ground Force and Marine Corps, and the Type 08 saw operational use during the 2025 Cambodian-Thai border conflict. It has also been exported to countries including Thailand, Venezuela and Nigeria.
