The Hotchkiss gun refers to several weapons made by the Hotchkiss arms company beginning in the late nineteenth century, most commonly the 1.65-inch light mountain gun, though navy and 3-inch versions were also produced. The mountain gun was intended to be mounted on a light carriage or carried by two mules to accompany cavalry or an army moving through rough country.
