The PLZ-05, also known as the Type 05, is a Chinese 155 mm self-propelled howitzer built by Norinco to replace the People's Liberation Army's Type 59-1 130 mm towed gun and Type 83 152 mm self-propelled gun. It was officially unveiled in July 2007 and entered service with the PLA in 2008, mounting an 800 horsepower diesel engine, a crew of four, and a maximum range of up to 60 kilometers depending on ammunition; about 320 units serve with the PLA Ground Force.
