Zuzana (howitzer)

Artillery And Mortars

The Zuzana, formally the 155 mm SpGH Zuzana, is a Slovak self-propelled artillery system developed by Konštrukta Defence as an evolution of the earlier 152 mm SpGH DANA, mounted on a modified Tatra 8x8 chassis and fitted with a 45-calibre gun with an automatic loader for both projectile and charge. It entered service in 1998, can fire any NATO-standard 155 mm ammunition with multiple-round simultaneous-impact targeting, and is operated by Slovakia, Cyprus and Ukraine.

FAQs

How does the Zuzana protect its crew?

The gun sits outside the crew compartments, between two separated turret compartments.

The Zuzana mounts its gun externally, between two totally separated compartments of the turret. This makes the crew inherently safe from any potentially dangerous mechanics of the gun and its autoloader, and the crew is also protected from the gasses generated during firing.
