Siege of Vienna (1529)

The 1529 Siege of Vienna was the first attempt by the Ottoman Empire to capture the city of Vienna in the Archduchy of Austria, part of the Holy Roman Empire. Fought from 27 September to 15 October 1529 between Habsburg forces, including troops of the Holy Roman Empire, Bohemia, the Electorate of the Palatinate, Carniola and Spain, and an Ottoman army supported by the vassal state of Moldavia, the siege ended in a Habsburg victory.
