Battle of Ain Jalut

The Battle of Ain Jalut was fought between the Bahri Mamluks of Egypt and the Mongol Ilkhanate on 3 September 1260 near the spring of Ain Jalut in the Jezreel Valley in southeastern Galilee. The Mamluk victory marked the first major halt to Mongol advances and paused Mongol expansion into Arabia and Europe, with the Mongols withdrawing from the Levant afterward.
