Battle of the Little Bighorn

The Battle of the Little Bighorn was fought on 25-26 June 1876 along the Little Bighorn River in the Crow Indian Reservation in southeastern Montana Territory, between combined forces of the Lakota Sioux, Northern Cheyenne and Arapaho and the 7th Cavalry Regiment of the United States Army under George Armstrong Custer. Known to the Lakota and other Plains Indians as the Battle of the Greasy Grass and commonly called Custer's Last Stand, it was the most significant action of the Great Sioux War of 1876. The 7th Cavalry lost 268 men killed and 55 wounded, including Custer, while the allied tribes lost between 31 and 100 warriors killed.
