The Barrett XM109, originally called the Objective Sniper Weapon and later renamed the Anti-Materiel Payload Rifle, is a prototype semi-automatic grenade launcher chambered for 25x59mm ammunition, developed by Barrett Firearms Manufacturing to a set of United States military requirements issued in 1994. It is intended to defeat light armor and equipment at ranges out to two kilometers. Prototypes have existed since the late 1990s, with further studies released in 2002 and development continuing through at least 2006, but the weapon has never been formally adopted by any military force.
