The GMG, short for Granatmaschinengewehr or grenade machine gun and also known as GMW or GraMaWa, is an automatic grenade launcher created by Heckler and Koch for the German military. Designed between 1992 and 1995 and produced from 1996 onward, it fires 40 by 53 millimeter grenades at about 340 rounds per minute from a belt fed, closed link magazine using an API blowback action, with an effective range of about 1,500 meters.
