The PROM-1 is a Yugoslav manufactured bounding anti-personnel mine that functions similarly to the German S-mine, using a pronged fuze that triggers a propellant charge to launch the mine body upward before it detonates. Produced in Yugoslavia, it has been encountered in numerous conflict zones including Angola, Bosnia, Croatia, Eritrea, Iraq, Kosovo, Mozambique, and Namibia. It measures 75 millimeters in diameter and 260 millimeters tall unfuzed, weighs 3 kilograms, and carries 425 grams of Composition B or TNT explosive, triggered by 9 to 16 kilograms of direct pressure or 3 to 5 kilograms of pull force. The mine can project dangerous fragments to a range of 100 meters or more, with a potentially lethal range of around 50 meters.
