PMN mine

The PMN is a series of Soviet-designed pressure-activated anti-personnel blast mines, sometimes nicknamed the black widow for their dark casing, with the original PMN-1 dating from the late 1950s. Its unusually large 240-gram TNT charge in a bakelite case makes it more lethal than most anti-personnel mines, typically destroying a victim's entire leg and requiring amputation well above the knee, compared with the roughly 50 grams of explosive found in most blast mines. Later variants scaled the design down, with the plastic-cased PMN-2 of the mid-1970s carrying 100 grams of explosive and the metal-detectable PMN-4 of the early 1980s carrying just 50 grams.
