The FN BRG-15 was a heavy machine gun developed by Fabrique Nationale de Herstal of Belgium, announced in October 1983 as a potential replacement for the Browning M2HB .50 caliber machine gun and intended as a Western counterpart to the Soviet KPV heavy machine gun, offering greater capability against light armored vehicles. Chambered originally for a 15 millimeter round later refined to 15.5x106mm after barrel wear problems, it used a dual feed system that could draw ammunition belts from either side and ejected spent cases from the bottom. The project underwent an extended development process and was ultimately cancelled in the early 1990s when FN redirected its efforts toward the P90 personal defense weapon, so the BRG-15 never entered service.
