Type 92 machine gun

The Type 92 7.7mm machine gun was an aircraft-mounted light machine gun developed by Japan for the Imperial Japanese Navy, adopted in 1932 as essentially a licensed copy of the British Lewis gun. It served as the standard flexible, hand-held defensive machine gun in multi-seat Japanese naval aircraft through most of the Pacific War, though its performance in combat proved inadequate and later aircraft were fitted with the improved Type 1 and Type 2 machine guns instead.
