Zastava M87

The Zastava M87 is a Yugoslav heavy machine gun built by Zastava Arms and based on the Soviet NSV heavy machine gun, produced from 1987 onward primarily for anti-aircraft defense while also engaging ground and maritime targets at long range. Chambered for the 12.7x108mm cartridge, it operates by gas action, weighs 25 kilograms, measures 1,560 millimeters overall with a 1,100 millimeter barrel, fires at about 700 rounds per minute from 60-round belted boxes at a muzzle velocity of 845 meters per second, and has an effective range of about 2,000 meters. It has served with the forces of Yugoslavia and its successor state Serbia and Montenegro, and is used today by Serbia, Croatia, Bangladesh and Liberia.
