The Vickers K machine gun is a gas operated, rapid firing aircraft machine gun developed by Vickers-Armstrongs in the United Kingdom and introduced in 1935, chambered in .303 British and firing from a 60 to 100 round pan magazine at 950 to 1,200 rounds per minute. Though the Royal Air Force chose the Browning Mark II as its standard aircraft gun, the Vickers K found wide secondary use on bombers and naval aircraft, and was later mounted on vehicles by the Special Air Service and Long Range Desert Group in North Africa. It remained in Fleet Air Arm service until 1945, with its last recorded use during anti-piracy patrols near Hong Kong that October.
