Breda Model 1931 machine gun

The 13.2mm Breda Model 31 was a widely used Italian heavy machine gun produced by Societa Italiana Ernesto Breda and employed by Italian naval and ground forces during the Second World War, serving as a light anti-aircraft gun at sea and as a heavy machine gun on armored vehicles on land. Although manufactured in Italy, the design originated in France as a license-built copy of the French Hotchkiss M1929 machine gun, with Breda acquiring production rights in 1929 and beginning manufacture in 1931. It weighed 47.5 kilograms, measured 1.65 meters with a 1 meter barrel, fired at a cyclic rate of 400 rounds per minute and a sustained rate of 200 to 250 rounds per minute, with a muzzle velocity of 805 meters per second, fed from a 30-round box magazine, and had an effective range of 2 kilometers at 45 degrees elevation and 3.98 kilometers at 80 degrees. It was gas operated and air cooled with a tilting bolt, fed by top-mounted semi-circular magazines.
