The XM806 Lightweight .50 Caliber Machine Gun was a developmental belt fed heavy machine gun designed by General Dynamics under a contract awarded in May 2008, with development beginning in 2009 and the program cancelled in July 2012. It was intended as a lighter, lower recoil replacement for the M2 Browning machine gun, weighing about 40 pounds without its tripod, roughly 49 percent less than the M2, while producing about 60 percent less recoil.
