The Stoner 63 is a 5.56x45mm NATO modular weapon system designed by Eugene Stoner in the early 1960s and manufactured principally by Cadillac Gage. Using interchangeable modular components it could be configured as an assault rifle, a carbine, a top fed light machine gun, a belt fed squad automatic weapon, or a vehicle mounted weapon, and was also known under designations including the M63, XM22, XM23, XM207 and Mk 23 MOD 0 machine gun. It saw only very limited combat use by United States military units during the Vietnam War, and a few examples were also sold to law enforcement agencies.
