Nordenfelt gun

The Nordenfelt gun was a multiple-barrel organ gun with up to twelve barrels, fired by pulling a lever back and forth while ammunition fed by gravity through chutes to each barrel; smaller calibers up to about .45 inches allowed genuinely rapid manual fire, while larger calibers up to 25mm allowed only rapid manual loading. Its firing mechanism was designed by the Swedish engineer Helge Palmcrantz and it was produced and marketed from London from 1873 by the Swedish industrialist Thorsten Nordenfelt, whose company merged with the Maxim Gun Company in 1888 to form the Maxim Nordenfelt Guns and Ammunition Company after the design was superseded by the Maxim gun.
