All General-Purpose and Medium Machine Guns

General-purpose and medium machine guns are belt-fed automatic weapons that can be fired from a bipod in the light role or from a tripod or vehicle mount for sustained fire. A weapon belongs here when the infobox of its cited article names it a general-purpose or medium machine gun. It excludes light machine guns that are only carried at squad level, and heavy machine guns of larger caliber. Weapons in this group are placed by what their own cited article states, so a visitor browsing general-purpose and medium machine guns sees only systems whose sources name that role, and can compare them across eras, makers and the forces that used them.
