Bozdoğan (air-to-air missile)

Bozdogan (Merlin) is a short-range air-to-air missile developed by the Turkish company TUBITAK SAGE under the GOKTUG program starting in 2013, intended to replace the AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles used by the Turkish Air Force. It uses an off-boresight-capable imaging infrared seeker with all-aspect engagement and counter-countermeasure capability, high-thrust reduced-smoke solid propellant, and an electronic rocket-motor aiming and firing system; the manufacturer states it will have advanced agility from thrust vectoring and a range of over 25 kilometers. It is designed for compatibility with MIL-STD-1553 and MIL-STD-1760 and for use with the LAU-129 guided missile launcher.
