The Novator KS-172 is a Russian long-range air-to-air missile, sometimes called an AWACS killer for its ability to engage targets up to 400 kilometers away, developed by NPO Novator beginning in 1991 and also known under the designations K-100, Izdeliye 172 and AAM-L. It was first shown publicly at the 1993 Abu Dhabi defense exhibition, but the program stalled through the mid-1990s for lack of funding before India joined the development effort around 2004. Reports from May 2025 state the missile has entered limited service with the Russian Air Force, arming upgraded MiG-31BM interceptors.
