AGM-154 Joint Standoff Weapon

The AGM-154 Joint Standoff Weapon, known as JSOW, is an unpowered precision guided glide bomb developed jointly for the United States Navy and Air Force to let strike aircraft engage defended targets from outside the range of enemy air defenses. Originally developed by Texas Instruments and later produced by Raytheon after it acquired the program in 1997, the weapon uses GPS and inertial navigation to glide to its target and can dispense submunitions in a linear pattern. It entered operational service in January 1999 with the United States Navy and Marine Corps and has since been exported to more than a dozen countries including Australia, Canada, Finland, Greece, Poland, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.
