The BLU-82, carried under the Commando Vault program and nicknamed the Daisy Cutter, was an American 15,000-pound conventional bomb first dropped operationally on 22 March 1970 north of Long Tieng, Laos. It was used to clear forest into helicopter landing zones during the Vietnam War and saw further service in the 1991 Gulf War and in Afghanistan from 2001, with the last examples retired in 2008.
