The YJ-8 is a Chinese air- and surface-launched subsonic anti-ship cruise missile built by the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation and fielded by China's armed forces from the early 1990s onward, with air-launched and submarine-launched variants developed as the YJ-81 and YJ-82. It weighs about 815 kilograms, measures 5.81 meters long, and carries a 165 kilogram warhead powered by a solid-fuel rocket motor to a range of about 42 kilometers at speeds near Mach 0.9, flying at altitudes of 5 to 7 meters before striking with inertial navigation and terminal active radar homing. The missile has reportedly been used in the Saudi-led intervention in the Yemeni Civil War.
