The Mako Multi-Mission Hypersonic Missile is a hypersonic missile developed by Lockheed Martin and CoAspire and designed to fit inside the internal weapons bay of the F-35A and F-35C and the F-22A, which makes it the first hypersonic weapon compatible with a fifth-generation fighter. It was unveiled in April 2024 at the Navy League Sea Air Space exposition in Maryland and pitched to both the U.S. Navy and Air Force. Development began in 2017, at first aimed at the Air Force Stand-in Attack Weapon program. The missile is about 13 feet long and 13 inches in diameter, weighs about 1,300 pounds including a 130 pound warhead, and uses a conventional solid-fuel rocket motor to reach at least Mach 5, a choice meant to lower cost. It fits any aircraft with 30-inch lugs and can also be launched from a submarine or ship vertical launch system. Lockheed Martin has also expressed interest in exporting it to other nations.
