The P-70 Ametist, given the NATO reporting name SS-N-7 Starbright, is a Soviet anti-ship missile designed by NPO Mashinostroyeniye and carried aboard Soviet and Indian Project 670 submarines as well as the Soviet Project 661 Anchar. It entered service on June 3, 1968, becoming the first anti-ship missile system in the world capable of launch from a submerged submarine, with a range of 65 kilometers and the ability to be fired from depths of up to 30 meters; 631 missiles were produced in total between 1966 and 1987.
