The Robot 08, designated Rb 08, was a Swedish anti-ship missile developed by Saab during the early Cold War. It was the first operational ship-based anti-ship missile in the world. The design grew out of the French Nord Aviation CT20 target missile, and Saab manufactured the weapon after a development project begun in the 1950s. The missile entered sea-going service in 1966 aboard the Halland-class destroyers and was later also employed in a land-based coastal defence role by the Swedish Coastal Artillery. It was guided by radio command during the flight and used active radar homing for the final approach to the target. The Rb 08 was replaced by the RBS-15 and was retired from Swedish service in 1995.
