The Akeron MP, whose name expands to Akeron Moyenne Portee and which was earlier known as the MMP, is a French man-portable anti-tank guided missile system developed by MBDA France. Described as fifth generation, it has a fire-and-forget capability and also offers command guidance in lock-on-before-launch and lock-on-after-launch firing modes, so an operator can retarget the missile in flight, select an aim point or abort the mission. The multi-purpose missile has selectable anti-tank, anti-infrastructure and anti-personnel modes and a reach of up to 5 kilometres. It entered operational service with the French army in 2018 to replace the Franco-German MILAN and the American FGM-148 Javelin, and it can also be fitted to combat vehicles and naval vessels. A longer-range air-launched relative, the Akeron LP, is under development.
