Hyper Velocity Gliding Projectile

The Hyper Velocity Gliding Projectile is a Japanese hypersonic glide vehicle intended as a hypersonic weapon and considered Japan's first de facto ballistic missile, officially described as an island-defense weapon though also seen as capable of striking enemy bases. In 2026 its Block 1 variant, with a range of several hundred kilometres, was designated the Type 25 and deployed for the first time, while a longer-range Block 2 variant of 2,000 kilometres is scheduled for the 2030s.
