The Kh-47M2 Kinzhal is a Russian air launched ballistic missile with a reported range of 460 to 480 kilometers and a top speed near Mach 10, able to carry a conventional or nuclear warhead. It is carried by Tu-22M3 bombers, MiG-31K interceptors and modified Su-34 fighter bombers, and shares design elements with the ground launched 9K720 Iskander system. Vladimir Putin publicly unveiled the missile in March 2018 as one of six new Russian strategic weapons, and it entered service around December 2017, seeing its first combat use early in the Russo-Ukrainian war.
