Missiles And Guided Munitions

Agni-P, also called Agni-Prime, is a new-generation Indian two-stage solid-propellant ballistic missile that belongs to the Agni family. It is canisterised, meaning it is stored and moved in a sealed canister, which shortens launch preparation and lets it be kept for long periods and launched from either road or rail vehicles. Reports describe a range of up to about 2,000 kilometers and a weight roughly half that of the Agni-III. Guidance rests on a ring laser gyro inertial system and a micro inertial system, with optional satellite navigation, and it is the first Indian missile to carry a maneuverable re-entry vehicle, which makes interception harder. The Defence Research and Development Organisation flight-tested it from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off Odisha in December 2021 and again in June 2023, after which it was described as set to be inducted, and in September 2025 it was fired from a rail-based mobile launcher.
