Taepodong-2

The Taepodong-2, or TD-2, is the designation used for what was initially believed to be a North Korean two or three stage ballistic missile design, developed as the successor to the Taepodong-1 technology demonstrator. It was tested only once, in 2006, and the United States Department of Defense determined in 2012 that the design had never been deployed as an operational missile. Analysts instead concluded the Taepodong-2 functioned mainly as the technological basis for North Korea's Unha space launch vehicle program rather than as a fielded intercontinental ballistic missile. The design used a liquid propellant rocket with inertial guidance, measured about 30 meters long and 2.0 to 2.2 meters in diameter, weighed approximately 80 tonnes, and was estimated to have a range of 4,000 to 6,700 kilometers.
