The AGM-179 Joint Air to Ground Missile is an American air to surface missile built by Lockheed Martin to replace three older weapons, the BGM-71 TOW, the AGM-114 Hellfire and the AGM-65 Maverick, in a single system. It combines a laser and millimeter wave radar seeker so it can find targets more than one way, weighs about 49 kilograms and has a range of about 8 kilometers. The United States Marine Corps declared initial operational capability in March 2022, and the Army, Navy and Marine Corps together plan to buy more than 26,000 of the missiles.
