The Lightweight Multirole Missile, known in Royal Navy service as Martlet, is a small British laser-guided missile developed by Thales Air Defence for air-to-surface, air-to-air, surface-to-air and surface-to-surface use. It grew out of the Starburst surface-to-air missile to satisfy a British requirement for a light weapon that would let Royal Navy AW159 Wildcat helicopters engage small, manoeuvrable naval craft. A glide variant, FreeFall LMM, is designed to equip drones and is slated for use with the British Army's Dispensing Rocket Payload. An initial order of one thousand missiles was placed with deliveries planned from 2013, but initial operating capability was considerably delayed and arrived in 2021, with full operating capability reported in 2025.
