Standard Missile

The Standard Missile is a family of American shipborne guided missiles used by the United States Navy and numerous allied navies, spanning surface-to-air variants (RIM-66 and RIM-67), the AGM-78 Standard anti-radiation missile used during the Vietnam War, and the RIM-161 Standard Missile 3 anti-ballistic missile. The RIM-66 succeeded the RIM-24 Tartar system and the RIM-67 replaced the RIM-2 Terrier, and later members of the family, including the RIM-174 Standard ERAM and the air-launched AIM-174B, extended the design toward ballistic missile defense, land-attack use and integration with Aegis combat systems and vertical launch platforms.
