The Korean vertical launching system, known as K-VLS, is a hot-launch shipborne missile launcher developed by South Korea's Agency for Defense Development and built by Hanwha Aerospace, in service since 2003 aboard the Republic of Korea Navy's Sejong the Great class destroyers, Daegu class frigates and KSS-III submarines, capable of launching air defense, anti-submarine, land-attack and submarine-launched ballistic missiles. Three K-VLS variants exist alongside a newer KVLS-II model unveiled in 2021, with the standard eight-cell module measuring 3.165 by 2.076 by 7.7 meters, a compact four-cell version measuring 2.9 by 2.6 by 4.9 meters, and the KVLS-II four-cell module measuring 3.0 by 2.4 by 9.8 meters.
