The R-25 Vulkan was a Yugoslav surface-to-air missile designed by engineer Obrad Vucurovic at the Military Technical Institute in Belgrade, developed after Yugoslavia launched a program in 1958 to build an indigenous missile because it could not import a foreign system. Prototypes were built by the SOKO aircraft factory in Mostar, and the missile first launched in November 1962, standing 8.10 meters tall at launch, using a liquid-fuel sustainer with solid-fuel booster rockets, radar guidance with infrared terminal homing, a range of 30 kilometers and a top speed of about Mach 2.5. Only twelve missiles were built before the project was abandoned by 1964, when Yugoslavia instead acquired the Soviet S-75 Dvina system, and one telemetry-equipped example survives at the Museum of Aviation in Belgrade.
