The Mark VIII was a British 21 inch torpedo that entered Royal Navy service in 1927 and saw extensive use through the Second World War. It remained in service long enough that the submarine HMS Conqueror fired three Mark VIII torpedoes at the Argentine cruiser ARA General Belgrano on 2 May 1982, sinking her in the only submarine torpedo attack on a surface warship during the Falklands War.
