CROWS, the Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station, is a family of remote weapon stations used by the United States military on armored vehicles and ships, fielded from 2004 with Kongsberg Protech Systems as the primary contractor for the M153 CROWS II. It lets a crew member aim and fire a mounted machine gun, grenade launcher or missile system from inside the vehicle protection, using thermal imaging, a laser rangefinder and gyro-stabilization, and thousands of units have been fielded across multiple branches since the system introduction in Iraq.
