Samson Remote Controlled Weapon Station

The Samson Remote Controlled Weapon Station, known in Hebrew as Katlanit, meaning lethal, is an Israeli remote weapon system built by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems that allows a gun or launcher to be aimed and fired by a remote or automatic control unit rather than an exposed gunner. It is produced in three sizes, the 60 to 75 kilogram Samson Jr for 5.56mm and 7.62mm weapons, the 140 to 160 kilogram Mini Samson for 12.7mm guns and 40mm grenade launchers, and the roughly 1.5 tonne standard Samson for weapons in the 20mm to 40mm range, with some configurations able to fire anti tank missiles as well. The system has been fitted to vehicles, pillboxes and automated sentry towers, including a variant called Roeh Yoreh, meaning sees and fires, that lets an operator engage targets from a rear base.
