A harmonica gun, also called a slide gun, is a firearm design that is breech loaded with a steel slide bored with a number of chambers filled with projectiles. Most harmonica guns are percussion cap guns, though some designs exist as compressed air guns and some examples were made in pinfire cartridge form. In percussion cap versions each chamber holds a separate primer, powder charge and projectile, and the slide is inserted into an opening in the breech and advanced by hand after releasing a camlock. The design was made in both pistol and rifle models, in single-action and double-action versions.
