The Heckler & Koch HK43 is a West German civilian semi-automatic rifle based on the military HK33, produced from March 1974 to 1989 as the predecessor of the later HK93. Chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO or .223 Remington, it fires by a roller-delayed blowback action and feeds from 5, 20, 25, 30 or 40-round double-column detachable box magazines, weighing about 3.8 kilograms empty with a 36.2 inch overall length and a 16.975 inch barrel. It was produced in KA1, A2 and A3 variants for the commercial market.
