The Ruger Redhawk is a double-action and single-action, large-frame revolver introduced in 1979 by Sturm, Ruger and Company, designed by Roy Melcher and Harry Sefried as the company's first large-bore double-action revolver. It has a substantially larger and heavier frame than earlier Ruger models and has remained in production since its introduction. It has been chambered in several cartridges over its history including .357 Magnum, .44 Magnum, and .45 Colt, plus a dual .45 ACP and .45 Colt variant introduced in 2015, with a cylinder holding six or eight rounds depending on caliber and barrel lengths of 4, 4.2, 5.5, or 7.5 inches.
