The Smith & Wesson Model 17 is a six shot double action .22 Long Rifle revolver built on the medium sized K frame and intended for smallbore bullseye target shooting competition. Introduced in 1947 as the K-22 Target Masterpiece and renamed Model 17 in 1957, it was offered with 4 inch, 6 inch, and 8 3/8 inch barrels and an adjustable rear sight paired with a pinned Patridge style front sight. Smith & Wesson discontinued the revolver in 1998, brought it back in 2009 as part of its Classics line, and discontinued it again in late 2025.
