The Remington M1867 is a single-shot, breech-loading rolling-block rifle firing metallic cartridges, approved as the standard military rifle of Norway and Sweden on 22 November 1867 and the first cartridge rifle adopted by either army. The first 10,000 rifles were built in the United States by Remington, after which production was licensed to Kongsberg Vaapenfabrik in Norway and to Husqvarna Vapenfabriks and Carl Gustafs stads Gevarsfaktori in Sweden, with the rifle remaining in service into the mid-1890s.
