The SIG Sauer P227 is a semi automatic pistol chambered in .45 ACP, made by SIG Sauer at its Exeter, New Hampshire plant. Introduced in 2013 and discontinued in 2019, it brought a double stack .45 ACP magazine into the SIG Sauer lineup for the first time, using the company's locked breech, short recoil operating system with a double action or single action trigger. Standard models hold ten rounds while the TACOPS and Tactical variants hold fourteen, and the pistol was adopted by agencies including the Indiana State Police in 2013 and the Pennsylvania State Police in 2014.
