Heckler & Koch XM8

The Heckler and Koch XM8 was a lightweight rifle system developed by the German manufacturer Heckler and Koch with the American firm Alliant Techsystems from the late 1990s into the early 2000s, sharing design elements with the Heckler and Koch G36. It grew out of the United States Objective Individual Combat Weapon program and was considered by the US Army as a possible replacement for the M4 carbine, but the Army program was cancelled in October 2005. It was instead adopted by the PASKAL special forces unit of the Royal Malaysian Navy.
